Afghan and Iran railway delegations meet in Tehran

The Director of Afghanistan Railway Authority, Bakht ul Rahman Sharafat, and his delegation met Sayed Miad Salehi, Head of Iran Railways, in Tehran, according to ARA on Tuesday.

The Afghanistan railway’s special adviser, Mirwais Ghafouri, along with Abu Bakr Zadaran from the Ministry of Foreign AffairsAffairs’ economic relations department, Mohammad Aleem Noorani from the Afghan embassy in Tehran, Railway Authority’s spokesman, Abdul Sami Durrani, accompanied the Director.

In line with the statement, Mr. Salehi extended a warm reception to the Afghan delegation, expressing his contentment at their visit. He conveyed his optimism that the encounter would serve as a platform for nurturing stronger ties between the two countries.

Salehi welcomed the Afghan delegation and said: “We are glad to host you, and we hope that this meeting will lead to the development of bilateral cooperation,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Sharafat said that Iran has given significant importance to initiating transfers via the Khawaf-Herat railway.

Discussions revolved around the speed of transfers using the Khawaf-Herat railway line, with the Iranian representatives expressing efforts to boost cargo volume on the route.

Both parties acknowledged the railway’s significance for the economic growth of their respective countries.
