The Afghan Air Force choppers pounded Taliban positions in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan in the early hours of Thursday morning leaving several militants dead or wounded.

The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said the airstrikes were carried out at around 5:30 am local time in Ferozai Village of Dawlatabad district after the positions of Taliban were pinpointed.

The statement further added initial reports received from the area confirm six militants have been wounded in the airstrikes.

However, the 209th Shaheen Corps said several militants have also been killed in the airstrikes the details of which would be released later.

The 209th Shaheen Corps also confirmed that local residents have not suffered casualties in the airstrikes.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrikes so far.
