Thursday, August 11, 2011 – Officials in Presidential Complaints Department on Wednesday said, two employees working in Afghan Transport Ministry have accused Dawood Ali Najafi, acting Transport Minister of bribery and fraud in presidential elections.
This comes as the two employees in a complaint letter to Karzai’s complaint office accused acting Transport Minister Dawood Ali Najafi of huge corruption.
Meanwhile, the complaint letter enclosed with some documents has been referred to the High Office of Oversight and Anti-corruption to investigate the accuracy of the allegations.
According to reports, the complaint letter accuses Mr. Najafi of being involved in fraudulent acts during presidential elections.
The letter also accuses Mr. Najafi for the illegal placement of irresponsible people in the ministry and plotting the death of head of transport for Herat province.
The letter written by the two employees of Transport Ministry, namely Assadullah Momand and Abdullah Achekzai, wrote that Mr. Najafi is looting the minister.
Mr. Najafi quoted by the two employees in the letter has said, “I give Karzai presidency and I have only cast 60 percent of false votes in favour of Karzai, Otherwise Dr Abdullah was the winner,”
But officials in Presidential complaints Department said it has no role in the letter and that they have forwarded the letter along with the enclosed documents to the High Office of Oversight and Anti-corruption Department.
Meanwhile, Daud Ali Najafi, the current acting Transport Minister did not commented on the allegations yet.
Previously Mr. Najafi was the secretary of the Independent Election Commission when Karzai was competing with Dr Abdullah during the presidential elections.
