According to reports, the meeting between the two sides has been arranged with the mediation of first vice president Mohammad Younus Qanooni.
The main focus of the meeting will be to discuss the steps forward in a bid to resolve the current deadlock.
A member of Dr. Ghani’s electoral team also rejected the rumours that the two presidential contenders will reach to an agreement on a political deal to resolve the issue.
He said Dr. Ghani has already rejected to form a coalition government and has always emphasized on national partnership.
Mujib-ur-Rehman, a member of Dr. Abdullah’s team also rejected negotiations regarding any political settlement and said the discussions have so far have only been focused on electoral fraud and cleaning of fake votes from clean vote.
Rehman further added that Dr. Abdullah’s team will welcome any step that helps to resolve the current political impasse.
The meeting between the team’s of the two presidential contenders comes as Dr. Abdullah has halted his ties with the Independent Election Commission and Independent Electoral Complaints Commission.
Abdullah has said that his demands for his return to election process have not been met and accused the electoral bodies for being involved in mass fraud during the runoff election.
