Afghan interior ministry officials following a statement on Sunday announced at least 1 armed insurgent was killed and 7 others were detained following Afghan national police forces operations during the past 24 hours.

The statement further added the militants were killed and detained during 5 separate military operations conducted by Afghan police in conjunction with the Afghan army, Afghan intelligence and NATO-led coalition security forces.

The operations were conducted at Kabul, Kunduz, Kandahar, Helmand and Zabul provinces of Afghanistan, the statement added.

Afghan interior ministry officials also said, Afghan security forces seized 2,050 kilograms of ammonium nitrate which is used by the militants to produce improvised explosive device and some weapons along with some other explosives dduring the operations.

Afghan security forces also seized 7 improvised explosive devices in separate military operations at Ghor, Nangarhar, Baghlan, Faryab and Uruzgan provinces.

Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regaring the operations.
