Local officials in Nangarhar province said unidentified gunmen killed eight members of one family, while they were offering Tarawih prayers in Jalalabad city.
Zia-ul-Haq Amarkhel, governor of Nangarhar province told the media on Sunday that the incident took place on Saturday night, at around 9:00 pm local time in PD9 of Jalalabad city.
According to Amarkhel, the incident occurred at the residence of a man named Haji Abdul Wahab, whose five sons and three nephews were killed in the attack.
Unknown gunmen attacked the individuals while they were praying.
Amarkhel called the attack “enmity” and personal hostilities over land, and that efforts are underway to arrest the culprits.
This comes a week after several members of two families were killed due to a dispute over land in Logar province.
Moreover, six people were killed and injured in the Shinwari district of Parwan province due to a dispute over water distribution.
