HERAT, Afghanistan – At least seven civilians confirmed dead after a vehicle at high speed crushed through a trailer truck in western province of Herat, local authorities confirmed Tuesday.
According to the officials, the incident took place Monday evening in Herat-Tukghondi highway at a time a public vehicle could not manage to slow down before hitting through the truck.
Officials did not provide further details on the incident or number of possible wounded civilians.
This came hours after another similar accident in the province where at least 12 people are wounded, including women and children.
Mohammad Faiq Sherzai, spokesman for the local hospital, said the incident took place on one of Herat main highways that leads to Pashtoon Zarghood district.
At least ten of the passengers were landed in Herat hospital soon after the incident, while two other are hospitalized in local facilities.
According to Sherzai, all 12 passengers on board are in good condition and are being treated under direct supervision of health officials.
