Multiple explosions were reported in Dubai’s Jebel Ali industrial area on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with videos circulating on social media showing thick black smoke rising near the area. Authorities have not yet released details on possible casualties, damage, or the cause of the incident.
Iran’s Mehr News Agency and Emirati officials, reported that at least seven explosions occurred within about 20 minutes in the Jebel Ali area. The report said two people were arrested for filming the incident, while the circumstances surrounding the blasts remain unclear.
Videos shared online appeared to show flames and smoke near facilities around the Jebel Ali port area. Residents in nearby Al Furjan told local media they heard several loud explosions around the same time, causing concern among communities close to the industrial zone.
The Jebel Ali area is one of the United Arab Emirates’ most important economic and logistics hubs. Located southwest of central Dubai, it includes Jebel Ali Port, one of the world’s largest man-made harbours, along with major industrial facilities, warehouses, logistics centres and a free trade zone.
According to Mehr News Agency, thermal imagery analysis suggested that a fire may have broken out at a warehouse near the port used for fuel storage and transfer. However, this information has not been independently verified, and UAE authorities have not confirmed the source of the explosions.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region following the ongoing confrontation between the United States and Iran. The UAE has increased security measures in recent months due to concerns over possible retaliatory actions targeting US allies and strategic locations in the region.
Some Iraqi media outlets claimed that the explosions were linked to a missile attack from Yemen toward the UAE amid wider US-Iran tensions. However, these claims have not been verified, and Emirati authorities have not reported any confirmed external attack.
The UAE has previously faced security threats connected to regional conflicts, including attacks targeting energy infrastructure and commercial areas.
