At least 7 Afghan national army (ANA) soldiers were killed along with 13 militants in latest wave of violence across the country.
Defense officials said Sunday at least five Afghan national army (ANA) soldiers were killed following improvised explosive device (IED) explosion during the past 24 hours.
Gen. Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the ministry of defense of Afghanistan said two more Afghan national army soldiers were in a separate incident on Sunday afternoon.
Gen. Azimi did not disclose further information regarding the exact locations of the incidents.
He said Afghan national army soldiers seized at least 55 improvised explosive devices (IED) during the military operations in the past 24 hours.
Azimi further added that Afghan national army soldiers also discovered and seized 1 mortar, 3 DshK machine gun, 5 AK-47 rifle along with two motorcycles during the operations.
He said at least nine militants were killed in Nad-e-Ali, Greshk and Sangin districts of southern Helmand province and four others were killed in Kandahar province.
