Taliban’s supreme court has announced that at least six people allegedly accused of abducting a woman and raping on Wednesday were publically flogged in a football stadium in Kandahar province.

Taliban’s high court for the country’s Southwestern zone on Wednesday in a statement said the sentence was implemented based on the guidance of the deputy judicial officer of southern Kandahar province.

As per the announcement, the alleged criminals were accused of kidnapping a woman and a rape case, who confessed to their crimes during the investigation.

It is reported that flogging took place in front of a huge crowd at Ahamad Shahi football stadium in southern Kandahar province.

Prior to this, the supreme court of the Islamic Emirate had reported that a woman in Parwan province was flogged for committing adultery.

Taliban’s Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada had previously ordered judges to implement “Sharia limits and retribution” throughout Afghanistan.

The implementation of lashing faced widespread condemnations in Afghanistan and overseas while some human rights advocacy organizations described it against human values and also described it as “hateful”.

Despite the immense pressure from the international community on flogging, public execution, respecting human rights, the rights of Afghan women and girls as well as religious minorities and ethnic groups, the Taliban group has its own policies and priorities regarding Afghanistan’s internal issues.
