According to local authorities in eastern Afghanistan, at least 9 people were killed and around 12 others were injured following a suicide bomb blast in eastern Nangarhar province.
The officials further added, the incident took place early Monday morning at Jalalabad city of eastern Nangarhar province.
Provincial Security Chief for eastern Nangarhar province Gen. Ebadullah Talwar confirming the report said, the incident took place after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the entrance gate of Jalalabad airport.
Gen. Talwar further added, an Afghan National Army soldier was also among those killed during the incident.
In the meantime Provincial Police Chief for eastern Nangarhar province Gen. Abdull Stanikzai said, at least 9 people including 2 Afghan Army service members, 2 airport gate keepers and 5 civilians were killed during the incident.
He also said, 2 service members and an Afghan army soldier were also among those injured during the incident.
Taliban militants group immediately claimed responsibility behind the incident.
A spokesman for the Taliban group Zabiullah Mujahid said, the attack was carried out by them and international coalition security forces have sustained casualties following the explosion.
However the Afghan officials deny the claims of the Taliban group regarding ISAF casualties.
