6 Afghan army soldiers martyred in IED attacks

(AP Photo/Rahmat Gul)At least six Afghan national army (ANA) soldiers were martyred following improvised explosive device (IED) attacks.

The ministry of defense of Afghanistan (MoD) said the soldiers were martyred following IED attacks during the past 24 hours.

In the meantime, the ministry of defense in a statement said at least 23 militants including three Pakistani nationals were killed during the Afghan army operatoins.

The statement further added that the operations were conducted in Kunar, Logar, Paktika, Ghazni, Herat and Kandahar province.

At least 12 militants were also injured and two others including a senior Taliban commander were arrested during the operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
