5 Taliban militants killed, 4 wounded in US airstrikes in Uruzgan

At least five Taliban insurgents were killed and four others were wounded in the airstrikes conducted by the US forces in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan.

According to the local security officials, the airstrikes were conducted in the vicinity of Tarinkot city, the provincial capital of Uruzgan province.

The security chief of Uruzgan Abdul Qawi Omari confirmed that the US forces based in Afghanistan carried out a series of airstrikes amid ongoing operations in outskirts of Uruzgan.

He said at least five Taliban insurgents were killed and four others were wounded in the airstrikes.

According to Qarwi, several weapons and ammunition belonging to the Taliban insurgents were also destroyed during the airstrikes.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

According to reports, clearance and counter-terrorism operations are underway in the remote areas in the outskirts of Tarinkot city.

The officials are saying that the operations were launched nearly a week ago and are still being conducted with the support of the US and the Afghan Air Forces.
