Wardak provinceFive Taliban militants were killed and two coalition security forces were injured following clashes in central Maidan Wardak province of Afghanistan, local officials said.

Provincial security commandment following a statement confirmed the report and said the clashes took place on Thursday in Syedabad district.

Syedabad is among the volatile districts in Wardak province of Afghanistan where Taliban militants are openly operating and carry out frequent attacks on Afghan and coalition security forces.

Besides the Taliban militants, insurgents from Hezb-e-Islami party of Afghanistan led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar is also operating in Syedabad district.

According to reports five Taliban militants and three civilians were also injured during clashes in Syedbad district on Thursday.

Taliban militants yet to comment regarding the reports.
