Local sources in Ghazni Province claim 5 security forces have joined the Taliban due to a lack of governmental support.

A source in the region, who didn’t want to be named said, the incident took place on Saturday, in the Arezui Khord area belonging to the city.  

According to the sources, the Taliban attacked a police checkpoint in Arezui Khord, while the security forces faced shortages of equipment and central command also have not cared about this matter, 5 security forces affiliated with the Taliban.

Meanwhile, security officials added that during the clash Taliban had captured a number of soldiers, and the authorities are trying to free the captured troops in the hands of the insurgent group.

This comes in a time that residents of Ghazni province have complained of rising insecurity and in recent days, and have been protesting against rising insecurity, targeted killings, and widespread Taliban activity.

These protestors are also calling for the removal of civilian and military officials in the province.
