Afghan-Air-Force2At least five militants were killed and two others were wounded in an airstrike in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the airstrike was carried out in Chardara district of Kunduz, targeting a vehicle of the anti-government armed militants.

According to a statement by MoD, the vehicle was damaged in the raid, leaving five militants dead and two others wounded.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

The Afghan forces have stepped up raids against the militants in Kunduz province to suppress their insurgency activities following an attempt by Taliban to recapture the strategic Kunduz city.

At least 6 militants were killed during a night raid conducted by the Afghan commandos in this province last month.

The Afghan National Security Forces arrested a military chief of the Taliban group, Qari Salim, arrested during a special night raid late last month.

Qari Salim was a key leader of the Taliban group who played a vital role in the collapse of Kunduz city last year.
