At least five militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed in a series of airstrikes conducted in eastern Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East said the airstrikes were carried out by the US military using unmanned aerial vehicles.

The source further added that three militants were killed and one of them was injured in drone strike in Deh Bala district of Nangarhar.

According to Silab Corps, at least two ISIS militants were killed in a similar airstrike conducted in Chapa Dara district of Kunar.

The anti-government armed militant and terrorist groups including ISIS insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as at least sixteen militants belonging to the ISIS terrorist group and Taliban were killed during the airstrikes and ground operations in this province.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the militants were killed in the past twenty four hours in Haska Mina and Khogyani districts.

The statement furhter added that fourteen ISIS militants were killed in US drone strike in Mehtar Khan arae of Haska Mina district.

At least twelve foreign insurgents were also among those killed, the provincial government said but did not elaborate further regarding the nationalities of those killed in the raid.
