At least five militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) were killed in separate drone strikes conducted in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in a statement said the coalition forces carried out drone strikes against the militants of the terror group in Achin and Khogyani districts on Tuesday.

The statement further added that three of the militants were killed in Achin district while two others were killed in Khogyani district.

Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in East of the country but the Taliban and ISIS-K militants are active in some remote districts of the province.

Both the Afghan and coalition forces conduct regular airstrikes and ground operations to suppress the anti-government armed elements that are attempting to expand foothold in this province.
