AFGHANISTAN/At least five civilians were killed and five others were injured following an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in Farah province.

Local security officials said the incident took place in Bala Bolok district after a civilian vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED).

A spokesman for the provincial police department, Javid Kakar, confirmed five civilians were killed and five others were injured following the blast.

Kakar further added that women and children were among those killed or injured following the explosion.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Local officials blame Taliban group for the incident as Taliban fighters frequently use improvised explosive device (IED) as the weapon of their choice which normally leads to civilian casualties.
