The Health Minister of Bangladesh has announced that a fire in a six-story building in Dhaka, the capital of the country, has resulted in at least 46 deaths and dozens of injuries.

According to Reuters, Bangladesh fire officials reported on Saturday, March 2nd, that a gas leak from a restaurant in the building is being considered as a possible cause of the fire.

Authorities in the country have stated that in connection to this incident, the government of Bangladesh has formed a five-member committee to investigate the matter.

The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but officials have added that the fire was brought under control after two hours of intense efforts by 13 firefighting units in the city of Dhaka.

Firefighters used cranes to rescue individuals trapped on different floors of the building, and these actions aided in the swift and operational rescue of the injured.

The number of casualties and injuries in this incident underscores the seriousness and danger of the fire, impacting not only lives but also financial and economic damages.

This incident could serve as a significant impetus for enhancing safety and health standards in buildings, emphasizing adherence to safety regulations, and providing important insights for preventive measures and crisis response to fires.
