As Joe Biden’s administration is under grave criticism for the “hasty” withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and not disclosing the number of US citizens who are still stuck in the country, the Pentagon during a Senate hearing on Tuesday, October 26 said that there are 439 American trapped in Afghanistan.

US undersecretary of defense Colin Kahul has said that they are in contact with 363 Americans in Afghanistan and added that only 176 of them are ready and want to leave the country.

Kahul added that 243 of those trapped in Afghanistan either do not want to leave Afghanistan or they are not ready to leave but acknowledged that those who want to leave will be taken out by any means possible.

Earlier, the Joe Biden administration had been saying that the number of Americans left behind does not exceed 200.

It comes as prominent republican Lindsey Graham lashed out on Joe Biden two days ago accusing him of taking 350 to 700 Americans out of Afghanistan but remaining indifferent to thousands of Afghans who have helped US men in service in the country.

Joe Biden is widely criticized as he withdrew troops from Afghanistan and left behind hundreds of American citizens.
