
At least 49 people were killed and 20 others were wounded after gunmen attacked two mosques in Christchurch of New Zealand earlier today.
Security officials in New Zealand have confirmed that a group of armed men attacked Al-Noor mosque and another mosque located in Linwood, leaving at least 49 dead and 20 wounded.
Mike Bush, a senior police official has said three men and a woman have been arrested in connection to the shootings.
The Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison has confirmed that one of the detained individuals is an Australian citizen, describing him as an ‘extremist right-wing violent terrorist’.
The Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern has described the incident as a terrorist attack.
Ardern further added that majority of the victims lost their lives in Al Noor mosque while 10 others were killed in the second mosque in Linwood.
