4 new COVID-19 cases recorded across Afghanistan in 24 hours

The health authorities recorded 4 new positive cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) across Afghanistan in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Public Health confirmed in a statement that the new cases were recorded in eastern Laghman and Nangarhar provinces.

The statement further added that they have recorded 4 new cases of the virus within 24 hours, this toll also includes 23 people recovered.

According to the Ministry, no deaths as a result of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, and the total recovery toll reaches 29,112 patients.


Mohammad Rafiq Sharzai, a provincial speaker to the Public Health Ministry said at least 1,411 people were tested positive, who returned home from Iran in the past couple of months.

Every 24 hours, more than 1000 Afghan refugees are entering the country via Islam Qala Border, connecting Afghanistan with Iran – of which 10 to 15 people are tested positive for COVID-19.
