4 Afghan soldiers die in separate IED attacks

Afghan-National-Army-and-US-troops-on-patrol-via-AFP (1)At least four Afghan national army soldiers were killed following in separate improvised explosive device (IED) attacks across the country, the defense ministry announced Tuesday.

Gen. Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the defense ministry of Afghanistan, said the national army soldiers were martyred during the past 24 hours.

He did not disclose further information regarding the exact locations of the incident.

Gen. Azimi also added that the engineering team of the Afghan national army seized at least 72 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the past 24 hours.

Azimi also added that a militants leader was also arrested by Afghan national army soldiers during an operation in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.

He said the detained militants leader was recognized as Abdullah who was invovled in anti-governemnt insurgency activities in this province.

At least two militants were also killed and eight others were injured in a separate operation in Sangin district of southern Helmand province, Azimi said.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.
