At least 35 militants were killed or wounded during the separate operations conducted by the Afghan and US forces in southeastern Paktia and Khost provinces.

The 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan Military in the Southeast said a clash broke out between the Afgha forces and militants in Lwari area of Jani Khel district in Paktia province.

A statement by Thunder Corps stated that 17 militants were killed and at least 15 others sustained injuries during the same clashes.

Paktia has been among the relatively calm provinces in Southeastern parts of the country but the security situation has deteriorated comparatively during the recent months.

Taliban militants often carry out attacks against the security forces and government in some parts of the province.

In the meantime, Thunder Corps said at least 3 militants were killed during an airstrike conducted by the US forces in Khost province.

According to Thunder Corps, the airstrike was carried out in the vicinity of Swi area of Shah Wali kot district.
