Local authorities in western Badghis province of Afghanistan on Wednesday announced at least 7 Afghan national army soldiers were killed or injured in Moqor district.

The officials further added the incident took place after an Afghan national army vehicle struck with a roadside bomb, killing 3 Afghan army soldiers and injuring 4 others.

In the meantime another security official said the explosion took place while Afghan national army soldier were patrolling in the area.

He said the army soldiers were also ambushed by Taliban militants following the blast.

Badghis province is a relatively volatile region in western Afghanistan where Taliban militants are operating in a number of districts.

According to reports this was the second attack by Taliban militants against the Afghan security forces in western Badghis province of Afghanistan during the past few days.

Afghan national army officials in western Afghanistan said they have launched a massive operation to clean the area from the militants.

Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the report.
