28 electoral teams of Abdullah endorses Ghani in election runoff

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s 28 provincial and mobile electoral teams on Saturday endorsed Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during the second round of election.

The announcement was made during a press conference by Qazi Mohammad Daud Safi who was representing 27 teams from eastern provinces and Dr. Nadia who was representing Ghazni province.

Members of the electoral teams said they have decided to support Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during the election runoff as Afghanistan is being threatened by economic and political crisis.

Nadia, ex-campaigner of Dr. Abdullah, said they have decided to support Dr. Ghani because they realized he’s the right candidate to lead the country.

The ex-campaigners also presented documents which confirmed their support to Dr. Abdullah in the first round of election.

This comes as electoral team members of Gul Agha Sherzai earlier endorsed Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during the election runoff. However, Sherzai announced his support to Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.

In the meantime, members of Dr. Ghani’s electoral campaign team welcomed the endorsement by ex-campaigners of Dr. Abdullah’s and said they will defend and protect their votes.

The second round of election is due to be organized on 14th June. The two leading candidates did not secure 50 plus votes during the first round of election to be declared winner.
