26 Taliban militants killed in Afghan operations

Afghan interior ministry officials following a statement announced at least 26 Taliban militants were killed following joint military operations by Afghan police forces.

The source further added Afghan police forces conducted at least 7 joint military operations in conjunction with the Afghan army, Afghan intelligence and coalition security forces during the past 24 hours.

The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul and Logar provinces of Afghanistan where 26 Taliban militants were killed, 1 injured and 14 others were detained, interior ministry officials said adding that Afghan security forces also seized some weapons, ammunitions along with explosives during the operations.

However Taliban militants in a statement denied reports of the Afghan interior ministry and said only 3 Taliban fighters were killed and 5 others were injured.

Taliban group also claimed heavy casualties were incurred to Afghan and coalition security forces during the operations.

In the meantime Afghan defense ministry following a statement announced 3 Afghan national army soldiers were killed or injured following roadside bomb explosion.

Afghan defense officials added an Afghan soldier was killed following a roadside bomb explosion in Barg-e-Matal district at eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan while two other soldier were injured in Logar and Nimroz provinces of Afghanistan.
