26 militants killed, 9 wounded in Afghan clearance operations: MoD

Afghan troops operationsAt least twenty six militants were killed and nine others were wounded in the latest clearance operations conducted by the Afghan National security forces, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

According to an operational update by the Ministry of Defense (MoD), the operations were conducted in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours, involving security personnel of Afghan army, Afghan police and other security institutions.

The operational further added that three militants were arrested and various types of weapons, ammunition and explosives were confiscated during the same operations.

At least fifteen of them were killed in Mariah district of southern Helmand province and six others were wounded, Mod said, adding that three senior commanders of the militants were killed in Herawood district of Uruzgan province.

In a separate operation in Dashti Archi district of Kuduz province, five militants were killed and three others were wounded, MoD added in its operational update.

The update also added that an explosives cache of militants was destroyed in Dand Ghori district of Baghlan, while three militants were arrested in a separate operation in in Parwan district.

The Afghan forces also seized various other types of weapons, ammunition and explosives during the same operations.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
