23 dead as Tractor overturns, falls into pond in India

Authorities in India recently announced that 23 people were killed and more than 10 others were injured following the overturning of a tractor in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Indian media, citing officials of the country, reported on Sunday, February 25th, that a tractor carrying a large number of people plunged into a canal in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the loss of 23 lives.

The incident occurred yesterday, February 24th, in the city of Kanpur, which falls under the jurisdiction of the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

It is noteworthy that this tractor was attached to a cart.

According to reports, the incident occurred precisely when these individuals were returning to their village after participating in the ritual bathing in the Ganges River in northern India, which is a Hindu spiritual ceremony for “cleansing sins.”

According to the Associated Press, eight of the fatalities in this accident were children.

Authorities of this country added that more than 10 injured were transferred to the hospital after the occurrence of this incident.

Earlier, a similar incident had also claimed victims among the residents of this country in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
