205th Corps security operation results in 5 Taliban killed

The Afghan military in the South has confirmed that five militants were killed and two others were wounded during the operations led by 205th Atal Corps of the Afghan army in Kandahar province.

The 205th Atal Corps in a statement said, during the clearance operation by the 205th Corps in Miawand and Shah Wali Kot districts of Kandahar, 5 enemy gunmen were killed, two injured and one arrested by the security forces. Additionally, the 205th Corps seized a number of enemy weapons and explosives during this operation.

The statement further added “In the past month, over 50 Taliban members have been killed by joint operations between the 205th Corps and the Afghan special forces. The Taliban have continued to increase their attacks against the security forces since the beginning of their spring offensive.”

In a social media post Kandahar Provincial Governor Hyatullah Hyatt said ” We are reassuring the #Kandahar people that we are fully ready to fight the enemies and are ready to negotiate peace with them too. We have called on the #Taliban to join the peace effort from Kandahar province.”
