  1. The facts in this news article ring true and raise several questions, which the government of Mr Ghani should ask itself.  Who helped the Taliban regroup and strategize?  Given the geography of Afghanistan and past history, it can only be Pakistan.  
    Mr Ghani’s policy of appeasement towards Pakistan now appears naive and ineffective, much like Clement Atlee’s policy towards nazi Germany.  Maybe he will eventually recognize that a bully like Pakistan will understand and respect only power.  
    What was the government of Afghanistan doing while the Taliban regrouped?  Did they not see what was coming?  I fear that Afghanistan’s current crop of leaders will keep squabbling amongst themselves, while the people of the country suffer.
