The Foreign Ministry of the Taliban announced that the Uzbekistan government is providing aid to the flood victims in Afghanistan and added that 200 tons of food and non-food items have arrived in Balkh.

According to the statement released by the Ministry on its social media platform X, this aid includes flour, rice, oil, wheat, meat, water tanks, tents, and some other items.

Ismatullah Irgashev, Uzbekistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs, has arrived in Balkh and asked the officials to deliver aid to the country’s recent flood victims.

Mr. Irgashev added that this is Uzbekistan’s tenth aid shipment to Afghanistan in the past two years.

According to the official reports, the death toll from recent floods reached over 300, with the floods in Baghlan alone claiming the lives of over 315 people and leaving approximately 40,000 children homeless.

It is noteworthy that in the last ten days, the most devastating floods in the country occurred, causing widespread concerns over human casualties.

During the last ten days, the provinces of Badakhshan, Takhar, Badghis, Faryab, Baghlan, Farah, and Ghor witnessed destructive floods, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and the destruction of thousands of homes.
