Ministry of Interior says 20 militants have been killed in fresh clashes with security forces.
According to the ministry, the clashes erupted during security operation in Abdulkhil area of Achin District last night.
Since the last five days, Daesh have suffered heavy casualties in Achin District.
They carried out two large-scale coordinated attacks on a number of security posts in this district which were rebuffed by security forces.
Local officials say more than 200 militants have been killed and as many wounded during the past five days.
Achin which shares border with Pakistan is one of the restive districts of Nangarhar province.
Haji Ghalib Mujahid, the district’s governor says if Achin falls to militants they can pose threat to Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar province.
