The local officials in eastern Nangarhar province are saying around two thousand kilograms of dates have been harvested for the first time from a single farm in this province.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the palm dates were harvested from a Hada farm belonging to the Canal Directorate of Nangahrar province.

The statement further added that date palm trees we replanted over 40 hectares of land in the farm a year ago which for the first harvest around two thousand kilograms of dates, producing a revenue of around 65 thousand Afghanis.

According to the local officials, around two thousand and seven hundred plants of palm dates consisting seven various types of palm date trees were imported from United Arab Emirates and were planted in the farm.

The officials are also saying that the amount of dates harvest will likely grow in coming years.
