In a separate operation in Pechageram district the Afghan intelligence operatives arrested eight Taliban insurgents including the group’s commander, NDS said, adding that three militants were also killed during the operation.

According to NDS the Taliban insurgents were led by the Taliban leader Mullah Esmat. At least three AK-47 rifles and a pistol were also seized during the operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

Nangarhar is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in a number of its remote districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
