The Pakistani military claims that two Afghan soldiers, who were detained after crossing to Pakistan, have been handed over to the Afghan authorities at Chaman.

According to the Pakistani military, the two soldiers were detained by the Frontier Corps forces of Balochistan.

“FC Bln hands over 2 Afghan Soldiers Hayat Ullah and Lateef Ullah Khan back to Afghan Authorities today at Chaman. Both had crossed over to Pakistan and were arrested by FC,” the Pakistani military said in a statement.

The statement further added “The return of serving Afghan National Army and Afghan Border Police soldiers is on humanitarian grounds as good will gesture.”

No further details have been given in this regard with the Afghan authorities yet to comment regarding the handover of the detained soldiers.

This comes as similar incidents involving mistaken crossing from the zero point of the Durand Line have taken place in the past.

In some cases, the mistaken crossings have resulted into clashes between the two sides, including the clash near Zazai Maidan district of Khost nearly two months ago, which led to killing of five Pakistani soldiers while another soldier was arrested and was later handed over to the Pakistani authorities.
