Thursday, December 29, 2011 – NATO-led International Security Assistance Force officials on Thursday following an statement said, at least two NATO service members were killed in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday.

The source further added, the incident took place after an individual who disguised himself in Afghan National Army soldier uniform opened fire on NATO troops.

The statement did not provide further details regarding the exact location of the incident and nationalities of the deceased soldiers.

The NATO-led ISAF generally does not disclose the identity of the casualties, saying “It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”

However, U.S. forces mostly have been stationed in the eastern part of the insurgency-hit country.
