In a roadside IED in Nangarhar, two policemen were killed and three others were wounded in Nangarhar province, officials in the province confirmed.

According to officials, the blast happened in the PD4 Sabzi market area of Jalalabad city, the IED targeted a local police vehicle.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

This comes as Nine Taliban insurgents were killed in an airstrike in the Bati-Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province.

Governor’s media office told reporters, that among the dead militants is one of the commanders named Omar, he previously was released from prison and was among those killed on the battlefield.

The Afghan government released over 5,000 Taliban in Doha, Qatar in accordance with the US-Taliban peace agreement, but there are reports that claim many of the freed Taliban detainees have returned to the battlefields.

Security officials in Kandahar province say eight police officers have been killed in an insider attack in Kandahar province.

According to reports the infiltrator was a pro-Taliban and was against the government.

In another incident, Kandahar police spokesman Jamal Barakzai told the media, that the incident took place last night in the Arghandab district center of the province.

A local official who did not want to be named told the media, that the forces had recently entered Arghandab district for military operations.

The attacker is said to have been killed by Afghan forces after he opened fire on his comrades.

Meanwhile, fresh Afghan security units have entered the area and the region is under government control.

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to the Taliban, the assailant was their infiltrator and has fled the scene to join the group.

This is not the first time that insurgents and militants have infiltrated the security members.
