Two persons were killed and another wounded after gunmen opened fire at them inside a mosque in eastern Nangarhar Province.
Ahmadzia Abdulzai, spokesman for the governor of Nanagarhar says that the incident took in Rodat District last night.
He said unknown gunmen entered a mosque in Kabul Camp area of Rodat District and sprayed bullets on civilians who were in the mosque to offer the prayers.
He added that two civilians were killed and another wounded in the attack.
He further added that security officials have initiated an investigation into the incident.
In recent years, several mosques have been targeted by terrorists in different parts of Afghanistan.
Beside Nangarhar, Paktika, Kunar and Farah are among parts of Afghanistan where mosques have been targeted by terrorists.
Dozens of civilians have lost their lives or injured in these attacks.
Last year at least 36 civilians were injured in Khogyani District of Nangarhar province due to an explosion inside a Grand Mosque where terrorists had placed explosives.
The explosion occurred as hundreds of people were gathered to offer the Friday prayers.
Also, Arsala Jamal, governor of Logar province was as assassinated in a bomb attack in a Logar mosque in 2013.
