UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – At least two civilians killed after a gas cylinder exploded at a restaurant in United Arab Emirates, according to sources.

The incident took place at around 4:30am Monday in a four-storey building in the emirate’s International City.

Soon after the blast, the building was evacuated as a group of firefighters and rescue team from Nad Al Sheba center were dispatched to the location.

Meanwhile, a Dubai Civil defense spokesperson confirming the incident said the fire erupted at the ground floor of the building after a gas cylinder blew the restaurant.

Cooking gas had leaked in the restaurant and eventually triggered the explosion, causing a blaze which inflicted significant damage to the ground level of the building, the official said as The National reported.
