At least 12 civilians were killed or injured following an explosion in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan on Tuesday, local officials said.
A local security official in Marjah district confirmed that 2 civilians were killed and 10 others were injured following the explosion in this district.
No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
Helmand is among the restive provinces in southern Afghanistan where Taliban militants are openly operating in its various districts, and frequently carry out attacks on Afghan security forces and government officials.
This comes as at least five civilians including a child were killed following a roadside bomb explosion in Musa Qala district early Sunday morning.
