2 soldiers martyred, Senior Taliban commanders among 12 killed in Farah

ANATwo Afghan National Army soldiers have embraced martyrdom in fighting with insurgents while three senior Taliban commanders among three have been killed in western Farah province.

Mohammad Hanif Razai, spokesman for the 2nd brigade of the Afghan National Army (ANA) says that the fighting erupted in jurisdiction of Bala Bolok District yesterday.

He said that two Afghan National Army soldiers embraced martyrdom in the fighting and two others sustained injuries.

Razai added that 12 insurgents were also killed during the fighting that took place between security forces and Taliban insurgents in Shiwan and Khwaja Khozar areas.

He said three Taliban commanders were among the insurgents killed during the fighting that continued for up to four hours.

Razai further said that one of the Taliban commanders killed was the so called District Governor of Taliban for Bala Bolok District.

Farah is one of the restive provinces where beside Afghan Taliban foreign insurgent like Uzbek fighters also involved in armed conflicts.

This week officials in Farah province said that the Uzbek fighters have even moved in to Afghanistan with their families.

The estimated number of the familes moved to Farah province was said to be around one hundred.
