2 Afghan soldiers martyred in roadside bomb explosion

ANA_securityAt least two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred following roadside bomb explosion in the past 24 hours, defense officials said Sunday.

Gen. Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), confirmed that two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours.

He did not disclose further information regarding the exact location where the two Afghan army soldiers lost their lives.

Gen. Azimi further added that six terrorists were killed in three different provinces during the Afghan National Army (ANA) operations.

He said at least 26 rounds of Improvised Explosive Deivce (IED) were also seized and neutralized during the operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

Taliban militants and other insurgents frequently use Improvised Explosive Deivce (IED) as the weapon of their choice to target Afghan and coalition security forces.

According to security officials, the Afghan army deaths stands at 4 service members daily on average which is mainly caused due to improvised explosive device (IED) attacks.
