1st Death anniversary of Marshal Mohammad Qaseem Fahim observed today

Marshal Mohammad Qasim FahimThe 1st death anniversary of Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim was observed  in Kabul on Monday.

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani-President of Afghanistan, Abdullah Abdullah-the Chief Executive Officer of the government, Hamid Karzai-the Ex-President of Afghanistan and other political and Jihadi leaders attended the anniversary being organized in the Grand Jirga tent in Kabul.

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani while talking to the gathering in the Grand Jirga tent said that Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim played a vital role in the politics of Afghanistan, especially in the last decade. He called late Mohammad Qasim Fahim “the man of politics”

President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also praised Marshal’s efforts from being against the racism and defending the national interests of Afghanistan.

Abdullah Abdull, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the government also talked to the gathering. He said that Marshal Mohammad Fahim Qasim wanted freedom, justice and respect for the people of Afghanistan.

Adib Fahim, Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim’s son in his talking to the gathering said that his father for about half a decade tirelessly struggled for the betterment of the people of Afghanistan.

He added that his father did not believe on racism and was reliable to all of the tribes of the country.

Adib said that his father desired a strong government, transition of the authority through election and bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan.

Hamid Karzai, Ex-President of Afghanistan also talked to the gathering. He said that Marshal Mohammad Fahim Qasim loved his country and always put tireless efforts for the peace and prosperity of Afghanistan.

Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim was one of the leading Jihadi commanders in the fight against Soviet forces in Afghanistan.

He was the assistant of late Ahmad Shah Masoud from the beginning of the Jihad until the success of Mujahideen over the soviet backed administration in Afghanistan.

After Ahmad Shah Masoud was martyred, He took the lead in the fight against Taliban in northern Afghanistan.

He also played a key role in the government of Afghanistan formed after the fall of Taliban in 2001.

He served as the 1st vice president and Defense Minister of Afghanistan during the government of Hamid Karzai.

He was born in 1957 in the province of Panjshir and died at the age of 56 in Kabul on 9 March 2014.
