19 Taliban militants killed, 5 others injured in Afghan operations

151545-afghan-policeAt least 19 Taliban militants were killed following military operations by Afghan national security forces in the past 24 hours.

The ministry of interior (MoI), following a statement said Saturday that the militants were killed during operations in Nangarhar, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Badghis and Helmand provinces.

The statement furhter added that the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan national police, Afghan national amy and Afghan intelligence – national directorate of security (NDS) operatives.

At least five Taliban militants were also injured and six others were detained during the operations, MoI said.

The statement also added that the Afghan national security forces confiscated various types of heavy and light weapons along with ammunition and explosives during the operations.

Afghan police forces discovered and seized an improvised explosive device (IED) during an operation in Kajaki district of Helmand province.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
