Afghan soldierDozens of Afghan national army soldiers were killed following an attack by Taliban militants in eastern Kunar province. 

The incident took place Ghaziabad district early Sunday morning, leaving at least 20 Afghan army soldiers dead, local officials said.

Provincial governor spokesman, Abdul Musamim, said at least two Afghan national army soldiers were also injured following the incident and six others were abducted.

Gen. Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the defense ministry of Afghanistan confirming the report, said militants attacked two security check posts in Ghaziabad district around 8:30 am local time.

He did not disclose further information regarding the exact number of Afghan soldiers casualties, however he said a number of soldiers were killed along with several other militants.

Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the incident and said at least 35 Afghan national army soldiers were killed following the attack.
