US drone strike AfghanistanAt least 19 fanatics of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed in an airstrike in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan on Friday afternoon.

The drone strike targeted the ISIS fanatics shortly after they decapitated seven people including six Taliban insurgents in the restive Achin district.

A local government official earlier told VOA that the ISIS fanatics beheaded the prisoners after the Friday prayers in Pekha area.

The official speaking on the condition of anonymity further added that the area came under drone strike shortly after the brutal execution of the prisoners, leaving at least 17 ISIS fanatics dead.

However, the local residents who were forced to watch the brutal executions have said the airstrike targeted the ISIS fanatics while they were beheading the prisoners.

Provincial governor spokesman Ataullah Khogyani confirmed that a drone strike targeted a group of ISIS militants in Achin district, however he did not comment regarding the beheadings.

He also added that four senior commanders of the ISIS loyalists were among those killed but the exact number of ISIS casualties has not been ascertained so far.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the beheading of its six militants so far.
