At least sixteen Taliban militants were killed in an explosion triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in southeastern Ghazni province.

The provincial Police Commandment in a statement said the incident has taken place in the vicinity of the restive Qarabagh district.

The statement further added that the Taliban militants were manufacturing improvised explosive devices in a house in Moshaki area of the district when the incident took place.

At least sixteen improvised explosive devices prepared for future attacks were also destroyed in the explosion, the provincial government added.

The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban militants have not commented regarding incident so far.

But the provincial police commandment slammed the group for using improvised explosive devices on main highways which normally results in civilian casualties.
