16 soldiers martyred, 138 rebels killed in fresh military operations

Afghan-National-Army-soldierSixteen soldiers have embraced martyrdom while 138 insurgents killed in fresh confrontations with military across the country, ministries of defense and interior announced on Saturday.

General Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense has said in a tweet that the sixteen soldiers embraced martyrdom due to landmine explosion and militant fire in past 48 hours. He has not mentioned the exact location of the terrorist actions.

Also, Ministry of Interior says 138 insurgents were killed and 83 others wounded during separate military operations in 11 provinces in past 24 hours.

A statement issued by the ministry states that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Ghor, Kunduz, Faryab, Badakhshan, Sar-e-Pul, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni and Paktika provinces in past 24 hours.

Dozens of motorcycles, which insurgents mostly rely on during their attacks, were also seized during these operations.
